The Rom daypack is an unique daypack that you probably have not seen before. It's a daypack, blanket, and poncho all in one. The blanket and poncho are built into the daypack; they are not separate! This type of daypack is best suited for easy trail hikes where you want to enjoy a view sitting on a blanket or hiking to your favorite spot and having a picnic. Standard FeaturesThe Rom daypack has three separate compartments. The main compartment is huge and can fit a lot of gear. It also has a couple small zippered pockets for wallets, cell phones etc. Located on both sides of the main compartment are two mesh pockets for water bottles. The second compartment is much smaller and can be detached via Velcro from the main compartment as seen in the above photo. The third compartment is also detachable via straps and is located near the top of the pack. These detachable compartments are good for snacks, toiletries, headlamp, knife and other small must have items. The pack is made out of DWR fabric that is water resistant and cuts down drying time. The pack has molle straps to hook additional gear to the pack. Dimensions The total size of the Rom daypack is over 3,000 cubic inches! This is a big pack! Main Compartment – 19” wide x 17” long x 8” tall (filled) Top Pocket – 6” wide x 12” long x 3” tall (filled) Bottom Pocket – 8” wide x 10” long x 3” tall (filled) Blanket – 51” wide x 72” long Weight: 4.6 lbs Cool FeaturesGet this: the pack actually unfolds into a blanket! It is easy to unfold and wide enough for two people to lay down on it. This is perfect for picnics or grassy areas near water. The blanket is comfortable, but not thick enough to lay down on rock like in the photo. You will feel the rocks under the blanket. It is easy to fold up the blanket and make it into a daypack again. Here's a video to see how to fold up the pack. If the sky looks threatening, no worries. The entire pack turns into a water resistant poncho! It even has a hood! Let it rain. My Verdict:This is a great pack for easy trail hikes, picnics and sporting events. The large size, blanket, and poncho are unique and makes this a versatile pack.
This is not the pack for serious mountain climbing or rock climbing. What I would like to see: A sleeve for a hydration bladder. Yes, you can put a bladder in the pack, but it has a tendency to turn sideways making it awkward and it might be hard to drink all of the water in the bladder. A padded waist-belt. The current belt is half inch webbing. With a heavy load the waist-belt might be uncomfortable. If the pack was lighter, it would be a big plus. If you are looking for a very versatile pack for easy hikes, picnics, and sporting events, this is the pack for you. More information and to buy here. |
