There are several reasons climbing peaks are so appealing. Here are a few:
1. It's a measurable goal. You know you have achieved goal when you stand at the peak. This much different than having a goal that is difficult to measure such as: be happier. 2. You are in the great outdoors when you climb to a peak. Virtually everyone likes being outdoors. The sights, the smells, and even the sounds are uplifting. 3. When hiking to most peaks, especially Red Rock Peaks (just 20 miles west of Las Vegas, NV), you get away from the crowds. Over 95% of the time my group is the only group at the peak. Most hikers do not hike to peaks. This is a good thing. 4. Hiking to peaks is challenging. You find out what you are made of. We have become a nation of sedentary people. We need to move more and sit less. It's human nature to ask, "What's in it for me?, when making a decision. I could list many benefits if you join the 52 Peak Club, but Mira said it better than I can. Mira is a member of the 52 Peak Club; she is not an actress. The video was taken at Rainbow Peak, not in a studio with a green screen. She was not paid to give this testimonial. If you are looking for motivation, watch the video. On April 2nd, 2017, Thomas Hart become the 138th member of the 52 Peak Club to hike to all 52 Peaks. You can read his bio here. Below is a video of Thomas receive his plaque. |
