"There are plenty of guidebooks about Las Vegas casinos, hotels, restaurants, shows and gambling opportunities. For hiking we found one volume, 'Hiking Las Vegas: 60 Hikes Within 60 minutes of the Strip' by Branch Whitney (Huntington Press, 1997) to be invaluable."

"With its clear directions and color photographs, the Member's Only section has shown me the way to mountain peaks I didn't know could be reached. Before becoming a member, I wasted too much time on hikes to nowhere. Now every hike is great--I just pick a Member's Only hike, print it, and take it to the peak!"

"I really enjoy following your directions on hikes in the Member's Only section that I would never do otherwise. Keep up the great work."

"When I moved to Vegas last summer, I had never hiked before. I went to a book store and purchased your hiking books. After doing a few months of learning through the basics of hiking and then the temperature dropping, I eventually purchased your membership online. I have been hiking almost every weekend for the past couple of months using your hiking information. My friend and I love it and it was the best purchase I ever made. I look forward to every weekend and going on a different hike. You are always very quick in response to my questions and it is much respected."

"Thanks for the lowdown on hiking with my dog.  I will be moving to LV on Sept. 15. Perhaps our paths will cross someday. I want to tell you how much I enjoy your 'Hiking Las Vegas' web site. I am an outdoor fanatic and was originally skeptical about the opportunities for getting out and about in LV. Thanks to your excellent work I am looking forward to my move. I have turned several friends on to your site."

Best regards,

Rob DeWitt

Hello,

"Writing to say THANK YOU. Yesterday I made it to the top of Mt. Charleston (and back down). What a hike. It was 55 degrees from top to bottom and virtually no wind and not a cloud in the sky. I will send a couple of digital pictures when I get home to share the magnificent experience. Made it top to bottom in about 7.5 hours and was completely exhausted. Again, thank you."

Branch,

I just wanted to thank you for your help and your great site. Myself and some friends hiked Red Rock Canyon while in Vegas for meetings. We had a great time and I hope to come back there soon. I will recommend your site to anyone coming out there.
Pete

Hi Branch,

Just wanted to let you know we had bought 4 hikes from you several weeks ago. We enjoyed them all so much so we bought your hiking book... Thanks

Dave

Hi Branch,

Thank YOU for the wonderful, informative and eye-enriching website! Every time I go to it, I want to go right through the computer monitor! I hope Las Vegas will maintain its wild areas and not make the same mistakes as LA and other cities have done.

Keith

"Branch, just got back from Vegas where we did 3 of the 4 hikes ( Gold Strike, Juniper and the Park). Aside from the heat, which we were prepared for, all went well. Directions in all cases where right on the money."

Hi Branch,

Thank you so much for you expert advice.  I will download the on-line hiking info for those two hikes today and add that information to what you've provided in your book.  I'm sure that you get a lot of emails, but hope that you recognize that there are at least 10 appreciative hikers for each one that contacts you personally.

Keep up the good work!

Hello Branch Whitney.

"We found your site today by accident via dayhiker.com and have been viewing it for the past 2 hours.  It is VERY WELL organized with wonderful information and links. This site is superior to anything we have in So. Cal .  We have wonderful hikes here with little website support.  Perhaps another venture for BranchWhitney?"

Branch:
Thank you. My family thoroughly enjoyed seeing Hoover Dam and hiking Mary Jane Falls our first day in Las Vegas. The wind rustled through the birch leaves, weather was cool and trail not crowded. Spectacular scenery.  Incredible. Thank you again for making our first time into Nevada a great beginning."

Branch,
Proud to be a member. You do a truly outstanding job.

Branch,

Purchased both books at Borders! EXCELLENT information!!!!

Thank you!

The hot springs was incredible!!!!! I loved the Valley of Fire – went off exploring “beyond the signs”. I’m looking forward to going back again. I must admit, Turtle Mountain was NOT one of my favorites.

Thanks again!!!!

I just wanted to thank you for making such a great web site!  I was searching the web the night before we left for Vegas and your site was a great help.  I had no idea what to expect except that Red Rock Canyon was supposed to be beautiful.  After viewing your site we had a much better idea of what we would find and thus had a great day.  We only had one day so having your information helped.

Now, based on your website we will go back to Vegas and hike a lot more.  Thank you so much.  I will be ordering maps in the future for our return!  Who would have thought such great hiking was just outside of Las Vegas.  And MT Charleston is 11,918ft?

Your site is great and very easy to use and informative. Looking forward to
hiking Red Rock Canyon!

I will be passing through Vegas on Monday, April 24th and have time for only one hike in the area; "The Park" sounds perfect. Thanks for your very informative site.

Hi there!  I just found your site, although I’ve been using your book “Hiking Las Vegas, 60 hikes within 60 minutes of the Strip” for about a year now.  It’s led me on some very memorable hikes in both the Red Rock, and Mt. Charleston areas.   Although I live in Canada, I travel to Vegas quite frequently and your book has been the key to my enjoyment of the area.  Thanks!

All the best,
Aaron

What a great time! I have been thinking about yesterday's hike and all of the interesting people I met this weekend. Thanks for including me. You are the best.
