The construction of US 93 highway eliminated the old trailhead.</p> I have heard the wash leading to Anniversary Narrows is now open again!  </p> <br/><strong> 1-13-2012: Just updated Indecision Peak in Red Rock Canyon. The new route avoids the dangerous boulder field. Members can download this hike now.</p> <br/><strong> 12-29: Just added a great hike from China Date Ranch in Tecopa, CA for members. This area is perfect for winter hikes. No snow, warmer than Vegas and only 90 minutes away. Currenlty members can choose from four hikes with more coming very soon. </p> <br/><strong> 12-13: Charleston got 9\" of snow yesterday. Chains required on all roads leading up to Mt. Charleston. </p> <br/><strong> 12-12: Red Rock - winter storm moving in now. Red Rock might have up to five inches of snow by Wednesday. Hike around Lake Mead or snowshoe in Charleston. Chains might be required to drive on the roads leading to Charleston. I will update.</p> <br/><strong> 12-5: Red Rock - Lots of snow and ice on all north facing routes. Mt. This is a very scenic route to Charleston Peak, the highest peak in southern Nevada.</p> <br/><strong> 8-19: South Loop Trail and Cathedral Rock Trails are closed. Anyone caught on these trails will face a $275 fine per person. This is in effect immediately. Charleston have been improved.  <br/> I just updated Cockscomb Peak hike. <p><strong>7-27: </strong> I will be at the Hard Rock Casino this Wednesday evening (6 pm to 8 pm) signing my new books. A special 25% discount off the entire store and a complimentary glass of wine for all who attend!!! <p><strong>7-23: </strong> Big time road construction on US 95 between SR 157 and SR 156. Allow extra time if driving to trailheads on SR 156 or Cold Creek road. <p><strong>7-13: </strong> I just updated Mummy Mtn. via Mummy Springs for members. The update includes new photos, more waypoints and a gpx file. This is a classic mountaineering route! <p><strong>7-10: </strong> It looks like the Monsoon season is upon us. Bring a rain jacket if hiking in Mt. Charleston. Charleston! State Route 157 and 158 are closed. SR 156 might be closed.  <p><strong>6-30:</strong>  All routes in Mt. Charleston are snow free with the exception of the north facing gully leading to Mummy's Nose and probably the gully above Mummy Springs leading to Mummy's Tummy. <p>Zion Road Closure: from 8 pm to 8 am Sunday thru Thursday -- Road construction will occur from the junction of the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive to the East Entrance, a distance of 9.5 miles, including The Switchbacks.   <p><strong>6-19:</strong> Most routes in Mt. Charleston are now snow free. Those hikes that have north facing sections will have snow. South Loop trail before the Meadows will still have snow. The gully below Mummy Mtn via Mummy Springs will also have snow. <p><strong>6-7:</strong> Big Falls and Little Falls in Mt. Charleston are flowing big-time. I just updated both hikes.  This weekend's forecast calls for temps to be in the low 80s in Las Vegas. Telescope Peak in Death Valley is now snow free. <p><strong>6-1:</strong> I just updated Fletcher Canyon hike in Mt. Charleston.  I pubished a video teaching how to tie a swami belt. Members can download the hike and watch the video now.  <p><strong>5-23:</strong> I will be one of the authors at \"Save Gas This Summer: Be A Weekend Traveler\"  at the Flamingo Library on Wednesday the 26th of May. The plans to upgrade Cathedral Rock Picnic Area have been postponed. </br> * I just published Holiday Peak, a great level 5 scrambling route in Red Rock Canyon. The road to Lava Butte is well signed! <p><strong>4-27:</strong> Just published a new route to <a href=\"MemberOnly/White Pinnacle Pk via First Creek.pdf\">White Pinnacle Peak via First Creek,</a> the wildest peak in Red Rock. This route avoids the class 4 gully and travels along the north wall of First Creek Canyon.
