Hiking Las Vegas (HLV) has been on the Internet since 1998!  It’s the source for hiking information for southern Nevada. HLV features over 385 self guided hikes throughout the southwestern United States that you can download once you become a member. These are the best guides in the business and they are updated. The hikes feature color photos of key landmarks, waypoints, and topo maps. Many of the hikes around Las Vegas are unique to this site. If you can’t hike with Branch Whitney, downloading one of these hikes is the next best thing.

Who is Branch Whitney?

I authored Hiking Las Vegas, Hiking Southern Nevada, Hiking the Southwest and Hiking the High Sierra. I wrote the books and started this website to fill a void: there was no  information about  the incredible hiking southern Nevada offers.  During the past 15 years, I have hiked and scrambled thousands of miles and I have led over 2,000 hikers to more than 100 peaks in southern Nevada and beyond. I have done every hike on this site; named over 20 peaks in Red Rock Canyon and found and documented over 60 routes in southern Nevada. The outdoors is my passion, I like a challenge and a good workout. I have lived in Las Vegas, NV for 28 years.
