The 52 Peak Club is a unique club that motivates you to improve your fitness level and become healthier by getting outdoors and hiking the best 52 Peaks around Las Vegas. Each time you stand at a peak with Hiking Las Vegas/ Meetup.com you get a one-of-a-kind playing card. These cards are not available to the public. The goal is to get all 52 cards by hiking/scrambling to all 52 peaks. Once you have climbed all 52 peaks, you will climbed over 100,000 feet and hike the equivalent from Las Vegas to Los Angles!!! Not many people can say they have done that.
You must be a member of Hiking-Las-Vegas/Meetup.com. There's no cost to join the Meetup Group. Become a member now. Each peak is a different playing card. You can only earn a playing card by completing each hike with either Branch Whitney or an Assistant Organizer of Hiking Las Vegas Meetup.
You will normally receive your playing card after the hike is over. Cards are enclosed in a plastic sleeve to insure they stay in perfect condition.
All hikers who complete the 52 peaks get a one year membership ($69 value). http://hikinginnevada.com/
1. I have done some of these peaks before. Can I get a card? No.
2. Does it matter which route I hike to a peak? No, any route to any of the 52 peaks earns you a card.
3. Can I get a card if I hike to a peak with a different hiking group? No, only with Hiking Las Vegas.
4. Do I have to hike all 52 peaks? No. You earn a card for each peak you hike and you keep that card forever. You do not have to hike the peaks in any specific order.
5. Can I just buy a deck or individual cards? No, you must hike to the peak to get a card. Only a handful of people in the world will have a complete deck (52 cards + the Joker). I am the only person who has the cards.
6. Is overnight travel required? No, all peaks are located around Las Vegas. (Red Rock, Lake Mead, and Mt. Charleston)
7. Don't the better hikers have a best chance of getting all the cards? No, not really and it does not matter. This is NOT a contest or a competition. The goal is for you to get into better shape, improve your hiking and scrambling skills and become healthier.
8. Are there some lousy peaks on the list? No! Only the best peaks made it on the list. There are peaks from each area (RR, Mt. C, and Lake Mead) so you can earn cards all year round. Turtlehead Peak in NOT on the list !
9. How long do I have to complete all 52 peaks? Basically it's unlimited. Realistically for most hikers it will take at least a year. That's one peak each week for 52 weeks. If it takes you three years, that's fine. Think of the sense of accomplishment you will have!!!
10. When will each peak be put on the hiking schedule? That's impossible to say. There are numerous factors, such as: weather, when organizers can schedule the hike etc.
11. How many hikers are allowed to go on a hike? 15 is the normally the max, but for safety reasons that number might be less. Safety is always our first priority. If a hike is full, 52 Peak Club members will be the first to be moved up from the waiting list if a spot opens up.
12. The club started in March 2011. Can I still join. Yes, join now. Remember, this is not a contest or competition.
13. If a hike travels to two peaks in one day, do I get two cards? Good question. Depends on how far the peaks are apart. Magic and Crabby Appleton: No. North Peak and Bridge: Yes. For now it's a hike by hike decision, but it will be posted how many cards you can earn for a hike that goes to two peaks. For hikes that go to two peaks, but you can only earn one card, you can choose which card. Example: Hike goes to Magic and Crabby. You pick which card you want.

The playing cards are casino quality, poker deck size. Each card is a different peak. The lower value cards are the easier peaks. The higher value cards are the toughest peaks. You can actually play card games with the cards, but you will probably not want to do this. A neat idea would be to frame the Aces, Kings etc.
